LeBron Raymone James is an American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA). He starts at the small forward and power-forward positions. James has won two NBA championships, four of NBA’s most valuable players awards, two NBA finals MVP awards, two olympic gold medals, an NBA scoring title, and the NBA rookie of the year award. He has also been selected to 12 NBA all-star games, and is the Cleveland Cavaliers leading scorer. With all this success he must have had personal trainers and great coaches as a kid, but that is not true.

So, you might be wondering how he transitioned from football to basketball that didn’t really happen until high school. James was recruited by St. Vincent-St. Mary High School to play basketball in 1999. While LeBron still played football, with his height (6’8”) basketball was really his forte. As a freshman he scored an average of 18 points. He then helped his team win the Division 3 state title scoring 25 points. LeBron earned several honors for his performance. As a junior James was named PARADE magazine 's High School Boys Basketball Player of the Year and Gatorade Player of the Year. LeBron decided to finish his education and had a tremendous senior year on the court. He averaged 31 points a game and finished with 2,657 points, 892 rebounds, and 523 assists during his four years at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School. He would soon emerge to become one of the National Basketball Association’s greatest players.
With an impressive record it was no surprise that LeBron James was the first pick in the 2003 drafts. Coming straight out of high school LeBron was drafted to play for his home team the Cleveland Cavaliers. Outside of basketball LeBron along with his wife Savannah Brison have three children, LeBron Jr., Bryce Maximus, and Zhuri. James keeps busy with his sons sports as well as the charity that he established in 2004, the LeBron James Family Foundation. He started this foundation with his mother Gloria James. Their mission is to help out children and single-parent families in need in and around Akron. Among its’ many programs, this organization builds playgrounds in economically disadvantaged areas as well as hosting an annual bike-a-thon.
