Canadians suffered a lot of hardship during the Great Depression which resulted in them feeling helpless and angry. This anger and helplessness left the Canadian people looking for someone to blame for their suffering; that someone became RB Bennett. The poverty of the Great Depression as well as Bennett’s past actions caused the rejection of Bennett’s ‘New Deal’ in 1935.
