The Yuchengco Museum is a four story complex in the RCBC Building in Makati City. Located in the heart of Makati’s Central Business District, this museum is a cultural retreat from the high-rise skyscrapers and corporate offices that tower the city skyline. Keeping in mind with the structure of the RCBC Plaza, the Yuchengco Museum is a modern building of glass and steel. The gallery’s contemporary architecture is in contrast to the various artefacts and artworks that have lasted for generations. The museum was established in 2005 in order to pay tribute to Alfonso T. Yuchengco, a prominent ambassador, businessman, philanthropist and one of the chief executives of the Yuchengco Group of Companies, a massive conglomerate of firms including the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation or RCBC (Yuchengco Museum, 2016). As a wealthy Filipino entrepreneur and scholar with a strong connection to his Chinese roots, Yuchengco created this centre to showcase his private collection of artworks and replicas that highlight the culture and history of China and the Philippines. Moreover, this museum also displays other works of art from various artists in the country and beyond. Despite its relatively young age for a museum or even as a centre of cultural heritage, the Yuchengco Museum illustrates the characteristics of the Chinese population in the country.
