The JFK Library and Museum in Boston on scenic Columbia Point, is an ode to one of the most charismatic presidents the United States has ever seen, John F. Kennedy. Most of the exhibits consist of items donated to the museum by his wife, Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis, and the location itself was chosen by Jackie. The JFK museum represents a rare time of bipartisan cooperation in American history, and the untimely death of a great American leader. John Kennedy was elected as the 35th president of the United States in 1960. Though a Democrat, JFK gained support from both parties.
“wow!” I thought as I stood amazed trying to analyze the significance through each piece of art. Art has always been a form of expression. Although art has been seen as a way of freedom of speech; it did not begin to show up until the 1960’s when their art made by minorities started to be appreciated. To start off, there are countless reasons as to why I should attend Villa Maria Academy. From the fantastic athletics, the reassuring fact (to dad) that there are no boys, the education, and lastly the security of a stable school. I feel Villa Maria Academy would offer me a lot that other schools can’t. All I hear are the unending raves as to how Villa can prepare you for college and real life situations. The Oakland Museum of California is a remarkable place to experience art in a museum for the first. It is a small museum but, it has so much to offer. It includes an Art gallery, History gallery and a Natural Science gallery. Walking up to the entrance of the museum, I noticed the museum is small but it had a sense of space surrounding it. The exterior had little decorations and the building has a simple but very geometric shape.
Last Christmas, I had the opportunity to experience the fireworks show in Disney World. The theme park’s magic and wonder fascinated me and thus compelled me to choose Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall as my building of study. Both its exterior and interior uphold a quote mentioned in Professor Speck’s lecture by Abbot Suger, “Man reaches contemplation of divine through the senses.” In other words, an individual is able to understand a deeper meaning through use of the five senses. Therefore, every person that passes this building goes through a unique experience when his/her eyes first detect the building.
