Introduction This report will be focused on analyzing three career options in real estate, including real estate / property appraiser, property manager, and residential real estate broker. We will be discussing these career options in depth and this report will focus on the nature of the work, the responsibilities of the job, the personal strengths needed for the career option, and the procedure required for the career path. After discussing these three career options, I will be comparing and contrasting them, in order to make a personal selection that would be suitable for my interests.

The first one is the responsibility of setting, collecting, and adjusting rent. They must also deal with (1) finding and screening tenants and (2) handling leases, complaints, move outs, and evictions. In addition, a property manager is responsible for maintenance and repairs that may be required for the land to be fully functional. Another important responsibility of a property manager is supervising other employees and supervising vacant properties to ensure that there is no vandalism and that repairs are being done in a timely manner. Finally, from a financial standpoint, a property manager must be able to manage a budget, maintain records, and ensure that taxes are being paid (Eberlin, 2018).
Personal Strengths Needed for the Job There are many personal strengths and skills that are important for property managers. One skill that is important is negotiation skills. This is because property managers must be able to work out details about leasing and property rules with potential tenants, deal with the bids that are being placed on the property, and must be able to negotiate with many people in the community. Another skill that a property manager should possess is communication. This is important as property managers must often speak with tenants, resolve disputes, answer questions, and hire workers (Property Manager Job Description, 2018).

One important aspect of being a broker and, not just a sales agent, is that brokers are licensed to manage their own business. They usually meet with their clients to understand what they are looking for and how much they can afford. In addition, residential real estate brokers must be knowledgeable about the residential real estate in the area so that they can match properties to their clients’ needs. Furthermore, they must stay up-to-date on (1) financing options, (2) government programs, (3) types of available mortgages, and (4) real estate, zoning, and fair housing laws. Also, many brokers operate in an office, where they can handle business details and possibly oversee the work of real estate sales agents.
