Charlotte Newton Realistic Fiction Short Story I Don’t Toe What to Do Cold. Why do I feel so cold? This school is a refrigerator! Is there a draft in the classroom? I just got over a flu I caught about a week ago, I couldn't have gotten another cold….Whatever, I’ll just grab a jacket out of my locker. I get out of my seat and make my way over to the door. I glance up at the clock. 8:27. Ok, I still have 3 minutes before the bell rings. Signing my name out of the room I head out through the door. Since the bell didn’t ring yet there were still kids in the hall leaning against their lockers, talking to each other, or just on their phones, hoping that a teacher wouldn’t notice them and start yelling to get to homeroom. I pass them quickly, in a hurry to get to my locker. They all stop from what they’re doing and give odd looks at me. I become confused. Maybe they really like the shirt I’m wearing? I decide to ignore them, and continue on. When I get to my locker I open it and grab a grey hollister sweat jacket that has a couple of stains on the front. It’ll do for just a couple of periods for me to warm up. I make my way back to homeroom just in time and sit down in my seat. After homeroom ended the whole class ran out of the room. 15 minutes left. I unlock the house and quickly scramble for my shoes. I put them on and go back in the car. 10 minutes remaining. Another 5 minute car ride back to school, and I come back into the nurse's office once again. Surprised to see me back, I quickly explain that I just needed to use the bathroom. She shrugs her shoulders and tells me to go back to class. 1 minute remaining. I ran back to geometry so fast a door almost slapped me in the face when I was turning a corner too fast.
