At the end of the play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo drank poison which killed him and Juliet woke up to see Romeo dead next to her, after words she killed herself with a dagger. So who is to blame for the death of romeo and Juliet? I think Friar Laurence is to blame. This is because he gave Juliet the sleeping potion. He also failed to tell romeo about his plan. finally he married Romeo and Juliet in secret. First off he married Romeo and Juliet. This was done in secret because he thought it would end the feud between the family's. What he should have done is talked to the head of both the family's to try to work out there differences. The text says "For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households' rancor to pure love." This quote was said by Friar Laurence at act 2, scene 3. Friar Laurence also gave Juliet a potion that put her to sleep which made Romeo go to her tomb and kill himself because he thought she was dead. Friar gave Juliet the potion to make the Capulet's think she was dead. After giving the sleeping potion to Juliet, he said he would send word to romeo so he could retrieve her. Friar sent a letter to Romeo but it did not make it to him. this is because friar john, the person he handed the letter to stopped to visit the sick, and was quarantined by the authorities who suspected he was infected by a plague. which made them refuse to send the letter. the text says " I couldn’t send it. Here it is. (he gives FRIAR LAWRENCE a letter) I couldn’t get a messenger to bring it to you either because they were scared of spreading the infection." this was said by Friar john in act V Scene
