Romeo Montague, in Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, has a few people to blame for his unanticipated death. Romeo has gone through a lot of trouble for loving Juliet and he’s only able to love her through secrecy. During the play in Verona, Romeo’s death should be blamed to Friar Laurence, Lady Capulet, and Juliet. Some could easily argue that Friar Laurence is not the one responsible for Romeo’s death because Friar Laurence only meant to help Romeo help cover for him, but really Friar Laurence should be held responsible because his plans were a bit too extreme and he didn’t have much backup, which leads to Romeo’s death. Friar Laurence didn’t assume some trouble to start. He was expecting and anticipating his plan would go just fine. The fact that Friar Laurence didn’t expect Friar John to come back to him with the letter still in his hand thus proves that Friar Laurence cannot be held accountable for what occurs to Romeo. Even though this is an abundant argument, there are plenty of reasons why Friar Laurence is culpable. Others can say that Friar Laurence is the one to be blamed for a few reasons. One of the reasons why Friar Laurence is to blame for Romeo’s death is because he didn’t have backup so if something goes wrong Juliet would be fine. Since Friar John couldn’t send the message over to Romeo, his plan about Romeo meeting Juliet after her long nap failed. “I could not send it—here it is again—Nor get a messenger to bring it thee, So fearful were they of infection” (Shakepeare.V .II.14-17). The initial reason why she should be responsible is because of her. Romeo makes very senseless decisions. Romeo's impetuousness and the general rash decisions that he made, can be the cause of his death. If he had just slowed down, thought things through and didn't feel so desperate, possibly his life would have turned out differently. He wants to spend his entire life on her even though he knows she is a Capulet. He went through death just to be with her in heaven. Another reason why Juliet is to be blamed is because Romeo is too stunned by her beauty. “Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night” (Shakespeare.I.V.50-51). He goes over to her house at midnight and after that, she proposed to him which caused him to get deeper in love. The concluding reason why Juliet is blamed for Romeo’s death is because if she took the long sleep potion. If she hadn’t token the potion Romeo wouldn’t have seen Juliet dead. So, he wouldn’t have slaughtered himself since he gives up anything for Juliet. Consequently, Juliet should be another person who was blamable for Romeo’s
