Some people are choosing to make them their pets. They either finding these pythons or buying them and keeping them as pets. Some owners are irresponsible and accidentally lose them or just let them free. This has a big impact on the growing population of these pythons. One example is this exotic pet dealer’s warehouse that housed nearly 900 Burmese pythons, it was destroyed and all the pythons that were in there got released.
Argumentative I don't think that Burmese Pythons should not be allowed to be kept in homes or as pets. They are not safe and can cause harm. A toddler or an infant would not be able to protect itself if it attacked it. When they are hungry they will eat anything they can to satisfy itself.
The burmese python is dangerous. The other animals are getting killed the ones native to the everglades. They get to big then people have to let them go thats why there dangerous and eating other animals . People have to let them
Sadly this whole problem was started by humans. This exotic pets we brought here because greedy pet store owners want to sell them to uneducated pet owners. All the pet store owners want is money and are not worried about the repercussions. Those who buy these animals don’t know how to take care of them and the snakes grow larger than they expected. As an island, Ireland has been subjected to less invasive species than larger nearby land masses e.g. Europe, but islands have a less diverse species population and are therefore more vulnerable when invaded.
Exotic animals are animals that stay wild, do not have resources that are easily accessible, and can be dangerous which means that humans should not be allowed to keep them as pets. They are wild predators and threatening to some. But we should also understand why some opt to adopt them despite understanding its dangers. By implementing a law, we can make sure owners are responsible for it and thus provide adequate care for their own pets. We can make sure neighbors feel comfortable and accept these “special” friends. Last but not the least, we can make sure the animal is safe and free from suffocating cages and insufficient food.
Maintaining an environment suitable for an animal from a different ecosystem is extremely time consuming and expensive. Modern day homes are not equipped with backyard jungles for Bengal tigers, or large amounts of spaces with objects for chimpanzees to climb on. It is nearly impossible for exotic pet owners to imitate the natural homes of these animals, which is what they require to ensure the animal lives a comfortable life. What most fail to realize is that these animals will not be able to adapt from a South American jungle, or African plain to a caged in backyard with a completely foreign ecosystem and lifestyle than these animals are meant to belong in. Finding veterinary care for exotic animals is a difficult task, let alone being able to meet the dietary needs of large, carnivorous animals or massive mammals.
Exotic animals should not be treated as pets because they are not completely tamable, they belong to their natural habitat, and they may be transmitting zoonotic diseases to those around them. In contrast, some people believe that exotic animals should be kept as pets to save them from extinction.
