Dear Congress, This letter is being written to discuss the hidden wisdoms from the teachings of an ancient Chinese philosopher that are still very relevant in the modern age. Some of the lessons of Confucius can be the answers to our country’s global issues and the most recent turmoil among our citizens. It has been said that, “history is the best teacher,” and I truly believe that just as we are sure not to repeat prior mistakes made during the course of human history, we can also learn the hidden knowledge from the greatest minds and philosophers of all time. Confucius, also known as K'ung-fu-tzu, was an ancient Chinese thinker and philosopher whose ideas were used to create the religion and philosophy known as Confucianism. The teachings in Confucianism has influenced the lives of millions of people in China, as well as many other Eastern Asia countries. Confucius lived a life of both wealth and poverty, and he became one of the most highly regarded minds in all of Chinese history after his death. The main thought of Confucian ethics is known as Jen, also translated as "love," "goodness," and "humanity." Jen is a supreme virtue representing the best human qualities found in society. In human relations, Jen is seen manifested as chung, or faithfulness to oneself and others. Other important Confucian virtues include righteousness, propriety, and integrity. The various teachings of Confucianism can be applied and encompass all human relationships and qualities. Confucianism can be considered the right way of thought in our society, and can provide the light in the world that can be shared among all
