After looking at all of the evidence the verdict is clear. The effects recreational drug usage does not fit with a christian's purpose or with the biblical definition of Christian liberty. Christian’s have been freed from the despair and misery of sin and idolatry and are now free to serve Christ and follow. “The Bible teaches that your holiness, or obedience, will lead to more joy, happiness, and contentment.”(Shaw 1483) Finally Christians are able to accomplish Matthew 22:37 and love God with all of their heart, mind, and soul. They must be vigilant to follow the instructions in Titus 2:12, “Training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,” and the in Colossians …show more content…

Intoxication is the “Situation where, by reason of drinking intoxicants, an individual does not have the normal usage of his physical or mental faculties, thus rendering him incapable of acting in a manner in which an ordinarily prudent and cautious man in full possession of his faculties, using reasonable care, would act under like conditions.” as defined by -------. We have already seen how such organizations like the the ONDCP and NCBI have proven through research that even a small dosage is enough to cause someone to be impaired in their normal thought process and their actions. This is against God’s command ment for us to be sober minded and always on the ready to perform our service for Him and others. We also see how recreational drugs can become addictive and habit forming which violates both our purpose in life and the purpose of Christian liberty. The worst effect of recreational drug use by far is the fact that it distracts Christians from the purpose in life. Rather than being focused on others they fall into idolatry and self pleasure which we are commanded never to be enslaved by again. 1 John 3:8 warns us that practicing sin is of the devil and the Bible is clear that committed Christians should have no relationship with believers who are focused on pleasing themselves. In conclusion whether a Christian becomes involved in recreational drug use or not will be up to that person's maturity and relationship with Christ, But it is the job of mature Christians to try to help and steer younger Christians away from this pitfall which is recreational drug use. “Examine your heart.
