Elia Kazan and Arthur Miller were good friends for quite a long time. They worked on films and plays together. The Red Scare destroyed their relationship. The threat of communism also broke them apart.
US citizens faced many domestic changes during the 1940s to 1950s anti-Communist crusade, also known as the Red Scare. During this time, the Soviet Union and its Communist government began to spread. People in the US feared that communism would take over the country, and this fear led to people becoming suspicious of everyone around them. If someone said anything remotely suspicious, they could be turned in, lose their jobs, and get blacklisted, which made it almost impossible to find new work. During this time, people unofficially lost their freedom of speech and other civil liberties.
Sam Roberts in the article A Decade of Fear argues that McCarthyism turned Americans against each other. Roberts supports his claim by illustrating fear, describing betrayal, and comparing it to other United States internal conflicts. The author’s purpose is to point out a vulnerable period of American history in order to demonstrate that Americans felt prey to McCarthy’s negative propaganda. The author writes in a cynical tone for an educated audience. I strongly agree with Robert’s claim.
In the 1940 's and 1950 's, an anti-Communist movement swept the United States of America. Fueled by the anti-Communist actions of Congress, particularly a Senator from Wisconsin by the name of Joseph McCarthy, the movement escalated and many people lost their jobs as a result of various blacklists. Congressional hearings, both in front of HUAC and McCarthy Senate committee were a study in organized persecution. The actions taken during the "Red Scare" were eventually given the general name McCarthyism. McCarthyism is the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence.
The Red Scare is a lot like what happened a few weeks ago in a Europe airport. There was a terrorist attack on the Brussels airport, and it killed at least 30 people and wounded 230 others. It was witnessed by a cab driver and anyone who had been there when the attack happened. There is a suspect held in custody. The red scare killed at least 2 people.

In this time there was a case where Julien and Ethel Rosenberg was accused of being a spy for the Soviet Union. With all this hysteria already going on people started to point fingers at them. The author says that perhaps many citizens may be drawn to Communist ideology if the social injustices become more prevalent, and urges the readers to look into the problems of Communist civilizations. The cold war was a fight between the Soviet Union and the U.S. it took place in the 1940's -the 1950's. The communists in the U.S.became known as the Red Scare because (communists were often called reds because for their alliance with the red Soviet).after that it went on into an effect of the federal government so they decided to investigate the employees and if found even a little bit guilty would be fired. And later analyzed by the Un-American Activities Community. After the World War in (1939-1945), the Soviet Spies and the American government became engaged in a series of economic disasters called the Cold War. during the content attacks the United States that Communists and leftist sympathizers inside America.
The first Red Scare occurred right after WWI and when the Jazz age and prohibition started. America was a notable economic power, and the KKK dominated the South opposing to the law. The first Red Scare was a fear of communists, socialists, and anarchists. A series of anarchist bombings, innocent people were jailed for sharing their views, and civil rights were ignored. The amount of fear, as fast as it came it went away just as fast.

The Red Scare started right after the civil war was over. There had been many riots to accrue during the time of the red scare. In the term the red scare had been a form of lose to many successful people.
