Cities around the world are predicated despair, but the possibility of redemption is still apparent. Instead of Americans reviving their lost cities, they run to the appreciation of the American dream, suburbia. James Howard Kunstler is redundant in his book with notifying his readers to keep cities in mind, hence the title. James Kunstler notes in his book, The City in Mind, “ A land made up of places not worth caring about will sooner or later become a nation not worth defending,” (pg. xii.) This indicates, if cities do not desire to be hopeless, that sooner or later provident actions will be required.
