I wanted to take a moment and express my gratitude for the instruction and support I received from you during Comp 1. You made a positive and lasting impact on me that has assisted me throughout my college career. I did take and pass the CLEP exam for Comp II, however, I learned in late December of 2017 that my score was below what UCA accepted (Eight months after my first class there). This left me with two options, take a Comp II course or add College Seminar and one other credit hour to the ones I were already taking at NP to earn an Associates of Arts this time. Since I did not see a Comp II course with you on the schedule, and I did not want to take the course with anyone else, I opted for the College Seminar course instead. I am unaware of when this belief began, but I do recall having that core belief reinforced in my high school AP English Literature class. I received poor grades and the feedback I received from the professor was constantly negative. Adding my poor grades and negative feedback to my pre-existing core belief led to cultivating a negative cycle. My efforts in the class diminished, my grades plummeted even further, and my inaccurate core belief was strengthened. Needless to say, I did not pass the class and had to go to summer school to graduate from high school. My very first semester in college, I faced my apprehension and dove straight into English Comp 1. My first paper was incomplete, but instead of sheer negativity, my professor provided helpful and insightful feedback. He explained he could see where I was going and that he could see the foundational skills I have.
