I have been able to work side-by-side with a Pathologists ' Assistant since day one and because of this, I fully understand their role in the medical society. I owe a lot of what I learned as a grossing technician to them because of their guidance, input, and examples. The more I asked them questions and the more I watched them work, the more captivated I became by their role and realized I wanted to be in their position. As a result, I believe that my close working relationship with the Pathologists ' and Pathologists ' Assistants, as well as the exposure and knowledge I have gained by working in the department will help me succeed, particularly in Loma Linda University 's Pathologists ' Assistant program. Loma Linda University is a good fit for me a few reasons.

After reflecting on all that you have learned in this course, share what you believe is one current trend in the human services field in meeting the needs of individuals, families, and/or the community. This course has been a revelation for me. In the past eight weeks, I learned many things about running a nonprofit organization, and I am sure I will learn a lot more. There are so many different elements that goes into managing an organization like how to build capacity, funding/budgeting, assessment tools, the role of the board of directors, and past/current trends in the field.
Enabling Professionalism reflection This is a reflection on continuing professional and personal development in practice. This reflection is to allow me to improve profeesionally with supportive, evidence based literature and to enable me to evaluate the impact my professional behaviour as a student and future midwife. My learning need is to focus on the importance of professional behaviour when on placement and working with women, their families and members of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
Reflecting on the past seven weeks I have acquired countless knowledge, which I will use to further strengthen my profession as an Advanced Practice Nurse. The course allowed me to think beyond my current practice knowledge and acquired innovative ways to evaluate the situation at hand. The learning objective in program outcome four helps set standards that I will use to guide my clinical practice to meet various healthcare needs. Using the case studies has helped to further enhance my knowledge on disease physiological state, using differential diagnosis, disease manifestations, and clinical presentation. It has also taught me the skills on how to differentiate between similar diagnoses to properly identify the problem and treat the patients.
Chinatown, the home to many Chinese immigrants, holds one of the most historical museum in New York. 215 Centre St. NY, 10013 might not be a noticeable address at first glance. But this address is actually the location of the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA). Surrounded by the Chinese natives of the area, I began to look at their age, gender, race/ethnicity, and the different languages they use. When I first came on a Monday morning there were not many people around the block.
I am in my third year of nursing and I am currently working in a hospital on an Orthopedic Neurological Trauma Unit. I collaborate with patients to identify the prominent health issues they are experiencing and advocate to ensure the care they receive is the most effective for their healing process. Patient interaction, learning new skills and evidence based practice, and being hands on with patient care are the benefits of my job that I enjoy the most. I form a bond with these patients and listen to their personal story to ensure that I give care individualized for each patient. I currently work in the mental health field as the Director of Admissions. I have worked in this field for ten years. Most of that time was spent in what is known as “direct care” and for five years I was in a management role. The work is very difficult with a very high turnover and burnout rate. One of the main issues within the industry is the loss staff, which is usually due to job dissatisfaction.
This week I met with a social worker at Cherry Health which is located a few blocks from Heart of the City. When I met with the social worker we did a role playing exercise. She played a client that was experiencing depression and sadness. In addition, she role played as a client that she typically work with at the agency and I role played as the therapist. I enjoyed the role play because I was able to receive feedback about my progress.
The last three clinical weeks at the Long Term Care Facility have provided me with real life situations to enforce the SILC clinical skills and improve my therapeutic communication. This experience has helped shaped me as a professional by allowing me to develop essential skills that contribute to the holistic care of nursing. A significant improvement that I developed following this experience included my assessment skills during every resident interaction. During these resident encounters, I began to address the resident’s overall well-being and comfort rather than just the current problem. I started incorporating questions about pain, how the resident slept at night, their current mood, and many other questions addressing the resident’s status as a whole.
What is reflection? Reflection is described as the process individuals use for self-development in their future career. The process of reflection has been used for many years in professional health fields such as midwifery and nursing (Lillyman. S & Merrix. P, 2012). Florence nightingale pioneered the practice known as reflection-on-practice, this is a tool that is needed in developing improvement and knowledge to enable an individual to grow in their nursing profession.
Introduction This essay is a reflective piece of writing about the critical indecent of a medication error that occurred during my placement. It is a very concise piece of writing due to limited word count of 1500 words. Duke and Appleton (2000) did a literature review and devised a framework of critical reflection, which illustrates eight stages as compare to Gibbs’s (1998) reflective model that consist of six stages. I chose Gibbs reflective model not only it is easy to comprehend but also to illustrate a critical incident.
My experience in Change Management is very limited. The theoretical knowledge I have acquired during the first four weeks of this module has made me realize that transforming organizations is a difficult and complex task. I have read case studies mentioning the unique contribution of change leaders whose role is to talk to people’s hearts and minds. I have also understood how important is to reconcile conflicting interests and emergent tensions between top-down transformation initiatives and functional operations. Despite the widespread belief that managing change is tough, there is little agreement regarding the factors which influence change the most.
Over the past one and half month, the class of PDE 502 (Counselling and Career Education) has taught me some major lessons for life in dealing with the clients in response to their emotional needs. The role of a counsellor is not unlike that of a friend where by it is nurtured by being in each other’s company, talking over everyday issues and sharing feelings. However, what sets a counsellor apart is their experience and the ability to apply counselling theories and techniques to assist people in gaining awareness, insight and explore ways of solving their own issues.
Professional reflection As I began my field experience journey, I learned many roles and responsibilities as elementary teacher. My duration in the field was nine weeks. I began training at E. R. Dickson. I developed a great working relationship with the staff and parents in the community. I always knew teaching is my passion.
