The essay that follows will critically reflect on an account in practice, whist discussing an individual's scenario that has been observed in practice. I'm a Social Work Student (SWS) based on placement in a hostel that accommodates for vulnerable young people age range 16-25. The agency is a housing association that strives to help young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The confidentiality statement is as follows “ You must not disclose customers names, whereabouts or occupancy to outside callers, without permission to do so” (Agency, 2015). This essay will be presented in the first person.
Direct clinical care provided by advanced practice nurses (APNs) is defined by six characteristics – use of a holistic perspective, formation of therapeutic partnerships with patients, expert clinical performance, use of reflective practice, use of evidence as a guide to practice, and use of diverse approaches to health and illness management1. APN practice is distinct from medicine in its holistic approach to patient care. As conceptualized in Shuler’s model, although advanced practice nursing does encompass certain aspects of medicine, it distinguishes itself from the medical model by merging both nursing and medical values.2 The holistic perspective emphasized in APN practice considers the patient as a whole, encompassing all dimensions
My present role is as a facilitator/tutor delivering vocational skills/theory Diplomas; level one, through to level three. My teaching risk rating is Green. For me, the most important aspect of learner retention stems from being in relational context with the learner, seeing them as they are, gaining some understanding of their needs and struggles and supporting them to know that whatever the difficulty, I teach to pass not to fail. Around 25% of my learners aged 16-19 (or 21 dependant on when they were initially registered) are identified as having an ALN or ASN, with one of my learners on the Autism spectrum, I adapt how I communicate the sessions to accommodate the clarity he requires and to not assume that he can second guess what to do next. I have found that I am able to support a wide range of learners to achieve and have not lost one learner from an apprenticeship course that I have delivered.

The Process of Reflection The process of reflection is central to clinical supervision. Launer (2003) describes external and internal factors in supervision whereby clinical practice and sharing skills are external and reflection is an ‘internal conversation.’ Brunero & Stein-Parbury (2008) discussed the effects of clinical supervision in nursing staff and argued that self-reflection generates a sense of self-awareness and knowledge to the individual. Supervisees or students may be asked what happened during a clinical event, how they felt, the implications of their actions and what they would do differently if faced with the same situation.
In the course of the year, due to the Peer Leadership program, I feel much more motivated. At the beginning, I was insecure and unable to carry out the responsibilities successfully. Many times I found myself out of place and expressing myself was a challenge since I did not feel confident. But I have been able to feel part of a group for the first time in a class at school. I can share with other peers and unwind more easily in front of them and out of class as well.
This week I met with a social worker at Cherry Health which is located a few blocks from Heart of the City. When I met with the social worker we did a role playing exercise. She played a client that was experiencing depression and sadness. In addition, she role played as a client that she typically work with at the agency and I role played as the therapist. I enjoyed the role play because I was able to receive feedback about my progress.
The overall semester definitely had its up’s and downs . As a Peer Mentor I have learned to appreciate my hardwork much more and also learned that speaking up a lot is key to key action to many things. One of my goals for the semester as a Peer Mentor was to get to know my peer mentees on a friendship level or maybe as acquaintances. That goal actually came true in a way because I only made three acquaintances only. Another goal I had throughout the semester was to go outside of my comfort zone a little, I really didn 't like to talk in front of the class.
Through my participation in numerous events I have been able to show my concern for my community members, and community. After high school I volunteered as a researcher at the DuPage County Historical Society during the summer of 2014. For my community I dedicated my free time looking up questions and interests of the citizens. After countless hours of research, I wrote up thorough answers to the citizen’s questions.
I am on the affirmative, and I agree with human experiments. The facts speak for themselves. Not only has the human lifespan increased, but we have cured multiple diseases that could have wiped out the human race as a whole. Smallpox is a distant memory thanks to human experimentation. We are less susceptible to what used to be common illnesses.
To become a reflective social work student, I need to be able to undergo self-reflection. This is a process of conducting self-assessment and observation. Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle influence user like myself to self-reflect and more importantly it encourages users to develop an action plan. This enables me to look at my practice and evaluate on the areas I did good and bad. In turn, by taking these experiences into learning I can use them to improve on for the future.
In this Capstone I learnt from it that is not only work in the individual it also works in a team or a group of people to encourage us to solve challenging problems, think critically and develop skills. For example, build a good relationship, well-communication, planning, research skills, media knowledge, public speaking, teamwork, self-confidence, target setting and so on. Competitive strategy is a strategy that develops student focusing on emerging understanding and the dynamic of an industry which is local issues. A process of reproduction, reflection and experiential learning are enhanced within solve problems, decision making, analysis of general critical, capabilities of creative thinking and so on. All of these will help us in our future
One of the unique aspects of the Department of Child Development and Family Relations is that many of the department’s large core courses offer teaching assistant opportunities to undergraduate students. Teaching assistant opportunities are valuable for undergraduate students to decide whether to apply as a graduate teaching position, great addition to a resume, and for a letter of recommendation. From my teaching assistant experience, I was able to fully grasp the concepts of middle childhood development, form a new appreciation for professors and teaching assistants, and reflect on myself as a student. In addition, I had the opportunity to strengthen several essential skills such as organizational skills, leadership skills, and communication
My job at the foodlion grocery store in Roebuck was an unenjoyable working experience to say the least. When I first began working at Foodlion the job was fun and I enjoyed it but as time went on it got worse and worse. As time went on the longer I worked there the more disrespectful my co-workers and supervisors got.
Professional reflection As I began my field experience journey, I learned many roles and responsibilities as elementary teacher. My duration in the field was nine weeks. I began training at E. R. Dickson. I developed a great working relationship with the staff and parents in the community. I always knew teaching is my passion.
