Reflection Of President John F. Kennedy's Speech

In the second part of the IB English Language and Literature course - Language and Mass Communication, I have identified how language in media is used to persuade and make people believe in certain propositions. From my course, I have learnt how people use different rhetorical devices to convince and persuade an audience.

As the topic of “World Peace” is a very important topic. I decided to choose President John F. Kennedy’s commencement address as my stimulus. Writing from the perspective of a professor at the University of New York, and applauding President John F. Kennedy for his concerns about the world.

In my speech, I tried to use a 1st person perspective as I am impersonating Stephen F. Cohen. I used quotes from John F. Kennedy’s speech such as, "Peace is the most important topic on our earth” and, “The United States, as the world knows, will never start a war” to show relation to his speech but also to show understanding of his remarks. …show more content…
