Week seven, I cannot believe that we only have one more week after this one and then finals. I have learned so much in this class so I am really pleased especially because I know that by passing this class I get closer to reach my goals. Throughout this semester, I have had many struggle when it came down to doing an assignment for ENC1102. When it comes down to my growth, I have noticed throughout my papers that various struggle I had in the past, are now not as difficult for me. One of the main examples of this is being able to clearly state my thesis. The thesis statement has always been an issue for me because I never really knew how to get my point across clearly through a thesis statement. When doing the proposal, I had to figure out how to properly state my thesis and have it linked into the rest of the paper.
This semester was filled with many bumpy roads. I struggled in the beginning of the semester with my writings , as I didn 't feel confident enough to write a well developed writing. I seemed to find myself struggling whereas writing was not my favorable subject. The major errors I had in my writings this semester would be , grammatical errors,work citations, transition words, formatting ,paragraph development, sentence structure , and sentence level issue. Therefore I have set goals to improve my writing in the future.
Throughout my education, writing strategies persisted to be a challenge for me. I dreaded writing because I could never find ways to transition my thoughts from my mind to the paper. Ironically, a class that petrified me due to the amount of required writing ended up helping me in numerous ways. English 1301 and my professor prepared me for college and real life by giving me a foundation of effective learning strategies.
For the future students of com 102 there is a lot you will learn and take away from this course. I will share my experience and everything i've taken away from this class. This class has made me realize and learn about myself as a writer and a student. I hope some of my realizations and lessons will help help the future students of com 102.
English 101 has taught me how to become a more professional writer. Throughout the semester I have learned how to write a critical, explanatory and an argumentative paper. The skills that I have learned such as MLA format, correct writing technique and so many other techniques have prepared me for the future with college classes and my future job. I have also learned how to use time wisely and work hard to get the assignment done. It is important to follow all instructions that are given so that one will fully understand what to do for the assignment.
I thought the meetings would be awkward for me, as I didn’t get along with strangers too often. However, this experience has taught me to give everyone a chance and for that, I am truly thankful. Then again, I thought that LA 111 would be able to help me adjust to that problem of mine and it did eventually. Participating in the class helped me later articulate what I had learned to my member where or when it was necessary. I realize now that it had been my fear of being alone in this that had kept me from joining programs like this.
Progression over the Semester After completing Honors English 126 in the Fall Semester of 2018, I thought I had learned all there was to know on how to become a good writer. However, after taking English 211, I soon discovered there is more to expand on and learn in the writing process. Throughout the course of this semester, I learned how to properly set up and write an annotated bibliography, how to organize my work better, and how to critically think about my paper topic. Coming into this course, I had some prior experience setting up an annotated bibliography.
With my written essays, I simply revised the essays as I wrote. So, I assert that this course has helped me learn to manage my writing efforts a bit
GENERAL REFLECTION Throughout this course, I learned several things about the material covered in class and also about my strengths and weakness when writing. I have become a great writer who thinks critically and uses all the knowledge I have at hand. But even if I improved I know there are many things I could do to enhance my skills as a writer.
Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. But after taking this class, I did learn different writing technique and improved my writing proficiency, material body of formatting, and how to uncovering and properly use sources. Through class exams, essays, and a research paper, I was able to learn new writing skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my writing still needs improvement.
My Writing Experience In previous courses, my writing skills have been mediocre or just enough to pass the class. Throughout the duration of this course, I have written a variety of papers using different techniques and skills. Previously I would write assuming that the only audience would be my instructor. This course has helped me realize that there are many steps and skills involved with writing a well-organized and easy to comprehend essay.
