Reflection On My Writing

Writing The Writing 121 course presented a lot of challenges that I had to overcome in order to become better as a writer. One thing I found very challenging, was adjusting rhetorical situations to a given condition. When writing the Inquiry paper, I had trouble finding what subject geared toward other college students to write about, while trying to keep concepts like Kairos, Ethos, and Pathos in mind. Another challenge I had to face was organizing the word choice in my papers. Writing the research paper, made organizing word choice difficult because of the length it was required to be. I learned that papers with true meaning and background knowledge take time to write. The Inquiry piece is a writing assignment that is fairly easy to conduct, however if it is not written with care and background, it will turn out weak. When I turned the first portfolio submission in, I thought I did fairly well. I ended up with a B- on the final product of that project. I could’ve done better if I continued to explain details I touched on, but I didn’t elaborate to fully extend its meaning. Doing the Research paper, I learned the process of conducting a college level research piece. Writing a college level essay, requires complex background and multiple sources to come to an agreement or consensus. To extend a paper to its most capable length, you have to expand you information. Finding holes in the patterns of your research helps with this. The most important lesson I learned, is being able to adjust your writing to present it to an audience. At the CSW, I found that my genre along with my topic came out somewhat well. People were able to understand what I was saying after simplifying complex
