In the memoir, The Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls, the author, was most influenced by her time in Phoenix, as indicated by how she describes the living situation in her grandma's old house with the money, and the time they had to tie her dad down because he was going delusional. It is evident throughout the story that living in Phoenix had a great impact on Jeannette Walls, She had spent more time there than any other place and she even came back after leaving. The first time was just to visit Grandma Smith, but the second time they came back to stay for awhile in Grandma Smith’s old house. The family’s time in Phoenix is described mainly about the house there and what happened in or around that house.

In the poem “Woodchucks” by Maxine Kumin, how does the speaker strengthen a sense that everybody has a murderous intent deep inside? Throughout the essay, you will see that Kumin introduces the speaker as a frustrated farmer trying to get rid of a problem she is going through. The speaker tries to kill the woodchuck by successfully gassing them. The speaker is frustrated and angry furthermore because his solution is not working in order to protect his garden. Down the line in the poem the farmer finds another means on how to kill the woodchucks and feel like this is the only option to get rid of them, however, wants the woodchucks to not feel the pain.

A book that I recently read that showed a reflection of my self-understanding was Missoula by Jon Krakauer because it extended my perspective on women’s safety on college campuses. The book Missoula shares stories of five women who were sexually assaulted at the University of Montana, Missoula and follows their cases all the way to trial. As a girl who has always been told that a college education is necessary to succeed in life, the idea that colleges arent safe for me felt like a secret that I wasnt allowed to know until I experienced it for myself. Reading the statistics and seeing how all of the rapists walked away unpunished strengthened my understanding of the fact that sexual assault is a normal occurance on college campuses.
If eyes are the windows to the soul, images captured by the camera shine a light on the basic heart of human nature. Last year I embarked on my first promotional film project. I shot it on Skid Row. Confronted by the reality of the cardboard tents, and duct-tape shoes, it turned out that my biggest struggle was my bias. As my video progressed, my feelings unraveled from the jumble of stereotypes, the homeless became the teacher.
Working full time for the past two years, I have had experience being both a physical therapist aide/technician and even an assistant. I have completed observation hours at Gentilly Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation, where I was a technician to a couple physical therapy assistants and physical therapists. At Gentilly rehabilitation center, I understood the nature of the work by assisting patients through weight training, teaching them the proper way to move around and assisted with recording the progress of each treatment. While observing patients under a physical therapist's supervision, I also had the responsibility of supervising lower level technicians during my support duties. Then the following year I observed at PhysioFit; I had a chance to
Cerebrating about the topic, I cannot avail but cerebrate about my current work I do with my Pawpaw. Often when I come to work for him, it becomes pellucid that I misunderstand him and his co-ascendant figure. They bark out orders obscure and expect you to read their mind and when you do not do the job right they act like they told you in full detail what needed to be done. One example I have is back about months ago, Buck, my co-ascendant figure, wanted me to take a tractor with an affixed bush hog and go cut grass. He authoritatively mandated me to cut the conventional fields and hurriedly left afore I could ask which fields he betokened.
Mildly Amusing Though Mostly Unimaginative Though this film is considered a classic and is billed as one of the top 100 films produced within the last 100 years by the American Film Institute, I find very little here to entice the younger viewer. Children enjoy the bright, vibrant colors of an animated story, though this movie was filmed in black and white making it appear dull and boring. It is void of cartoon-like characters that fly through the sky with rocket-propelled shoes, strange looking creatures that speak in high, unintelligible voices, and objects that transform into something else, all of which pique the interest of our younger generation.
The Disconnect of Dialogue and Interiority in Selected Stories in Olive Kitteridge Introduction After reading a short story or novel that leaves me with that intangible effect that I think all writers want their stories to possess, I like to read interviews from the author. For me, reading about the genesis of a story keeps it alive longer. I want to know how the writer arrived at her idea, how many drafts she went through, what the complications were regarding plot, what questions she asked herself and how she came to solve, answer them. Most of the time I want to know how her characters came to be and how they evolved into their fullness. Reading these interviews always leads me to reflect and compare my own process of writing.
I saw learning intentions and success criteria posted on the board. I saw candidate use the white board to model the work through of several ratio and proportion math problems, whole class activity. Although, many students were off task, I did observe candidate address at least 2 students off task students, one for throwing a calculator and another for the use of profanity. I saw a smart board in the room, but it was not in use. I observed candidate continuously move around the room to provide support to students who needed it.
Every summer for the past ten years, I have spent time at YMCA Camp Wanakita. Most recently, I began the Student Counselor (SC) program last August. As a part of the SC program, First Year SCs work on physical skills that relate to a future job as a camp counselor, including earning their Bronze Medallion. The Bronze Medallion is a lifeguarding certification that includes a timed distance swim, called the endurance swim at camp, along with training in various water-based injury scenarios, As I was never a particularly strong swimmer, I was understandably worried by the daily two hours of swimming mandated by the SC course, and the final exams for the Bronze Medallion, especially having ignored my brother’s recommendations of preparing for
