After my senior year of high school I thought I was prepared to transition into college level writing, but of course there was still room for improvement. Throughout this semester I learned new things that I could incorporate in my writing like punctuation, having a good choice of quotes and word choice. Overall my writing skills have improved exceedingly. My punctuation has improved and I use it when it’s needed. In my This I Believe essay I put “I also believe that a child should not have to provide for their parents, that it should be the other way around, but in certain circumstances I understand one has to provide for the family.” I often have problems with where the comas go. This semester I learned more about where and when to use a comma. In my persuasive essay I added “In “10 Reasons to go to a Small College” they bring up how the classwork is evaluated more carefully.” I knew that quotations go around a title but the rule was never enforced, so it’s something I had to go use to. In my identity essay I added “In “How Multi-Ethnic People identify themselves” in the article it stated “America embracing its biracial moment research has shown that multiracial people are comfortable with their identity and do not suffer psychosocial difficulties related to their mixed-race identity.” The quote supported the claim and the essay topic. In my persuasive essay, I wrote “In “Why Small Colleges are better in College” the writer mentions that “When students build a comfortable relationship with professors the are more likely to visit their offices and before or after class and to ask questions and to get advice.” This quote not only provided evidence to my essay but it was also relatable. Being able to find good quotes for my essay can really help get the point
