I am applying for the Social Worker course, because having worked in the field of care, I have gained much knowledge, training and experience to understand the role that needs to be up taken within this sector of Work.
I had the opportunity to work as a Personal Assistant for a Mrs Hallam. Mrs Hallam suffers with a physical disability which makes her unable to perform day to day duties. Also under my care plan I cared for her son who is mentally and physically disabled. Working in a person centred way was key for this role, as not always was they able to communicate their needs and wants.
Through this role I learnt communication factors which helped me deal with clients in a sensitive yet appropriate manner. I fully understood and made myself fully prepared for their reactions towards the information being portrayed. As an applicant towards your course, my motivation to further my knowledge and enthusiasm towards this subject is key to success within this sector. Also with my cultural and ethnic background I understand the values of every individual and know that everybody is different yet unique.
I have travelled extensively over the past few years. Within my travel period, it was obvious that my communication skills was key and made me realise my passion lies within helping other people.
