Whether it was debating with my stage make-up or driving eight hours from a rugby tour to participate in a five day residential teaching project at a poverty-stricken winter school - being able to say 'no' to something I am passionate about (even at times when it is most sensical) has always been a challenge. I am a multipotentialite (I have many different interests and creative pursuits), and finding an area of study to satisfy my multiple passions has been a long, confusing and frequently changing journey. Nonetheless the fields of Business and Entrepreneurship have piqued my intellectual curiosity in an unprecedented way. I am drawn to the 'idealistic' social objective of positive human development and it's potential in South Africa, having experienced it's success in my own life. I have often wondered how it was possible that my single grandmother, who was a domestic worker, produced my doctor mother. Although I now understand that education is the answer, I believe that business and entrepreneurship are the author. As such I desire to not only explore the opportunities and impact of the answer but also the complexities of the author's though processes.

I have many diverse and creative pursuits. As such I believe that Brown University is a natural fit for my holistic academic ambitions. Brown's open curriculum is the thing that excites me most about the institution. The prospect of pursuing my passions at a truly holistic institution excites me. Coming from South Africa the diversity of Brown's student body was another immediate attracting factor. Having participated in a student exchange and grown up in a multicultural African environment I have come to understand the value of a diverse student body.
