Throughout my time at Fairfield Prep, I have not only grown spiritually, but I have also developed as a student becoming “intellectually competent”. This does not mean that before I entered Fairfield Prep as a freshman I was not intelligent; instead, it suggests I had not yet mastered the ability to think critically and logically. These skills were honed and improved as a result of style of learning Fairfield Prep has offered me over the last four years. Rather than simply lecturing to their students, teachers at Prep provide their students with the information needed and allow for them to self-discover before interjecting and teaching about the subject at hand. This allows for the students to think critically and draw parallels between the various facts. One class in which I have experienced this was AP Biology. Learning biology by drawing connections and using logic might seem bizarre to many as it is generally seen as a subject in which you succeed through your ability to memorize; however, Mr. Camus supplies our class with worksheets that provide just enough information to allow us to utilize critical thinking and analysis to tie concepts together. As a student who has gravitated toward the STEM subjects from an early age, I expected Prep to aid me in my quest for knowledge in these areas. While Prep has supplied me with a Robotics team that has improved not only my ability to problem solve, think outside the box, and work with others, it has not taught me how to code or anything relating to computer science or electrical engineering. In this sense, Prep has stunted my growth because other schools like St. Luke’s in New Canaan or GFA offer these
