Improving my way of writing essays was a skill I wanted to make better through this term. Writing essays are hard for me but, with time and effort finishing and improving an essay is possible. Through out my three essays I tried to improve the outline of an essay. For essay 1 I was not really sure how to do an outline but for essay 2 and 3 I made sure I had an outline before I started writing an essay. Another thing I improved through my essays were the word usage. For an example in essay 2 I repeated the word nonnative repeatedly and decided to switch it to non-English speaking and speakers who first language was not English. I introduced my claim mostly in all of my paragraphs and as well in my conclusion. One strength that I had all throughout this quarter was being able to brainstorm topics before starting my outline for an essay. For example, with essay 3 I brainstormed many ideas for the essay and made sure I had supporting details for that idea, before I started my outline. Another strength was that at the beginning of the quarter I already had the idea that for every essay I was going to go over and edit my draft essay various times before I would turn in my final draft. For example, my essay 3 I revised that all throughout my essay I stayed on topic and that my point was well illustrated. But overall, I struggled with various factors of writing and really hope to improve these factors all through the freshman composition courses. One factor that I struggled with was repeating the same point in one paragraph to the other. A great example is portrayed in my essay 3 draft where I repeated the importance of obtaining a job with the use of communication in two paragraphs.
