This assignment will demonstrate how I have developed a more in-depth understanding of the processes involved in social work practice, linking theory to practice and identifying social work values and ethical dilemmas I faced in my placement setting working in adult services. I have identified a piece of work that I carried out that demonstrates the importance of developing self-awareness to become an accomplished reflective practitioner to analyse complex situations that validates my professionalism. My placement was with Adults Social Care services the North Locality team in Sunderland, working with people aged from eighteen to end of life. The first involvement I had with Alan was in the rehabilitation centre after discharge from hospital. The pivotal piece of legislation I adhered to was the Care Act 2014 with essential focus being on the principle of ‘well-being’ as set out in section 1 of the Act. The Act sets out regulations that all local authorities must obey that everyone is entitled to an adult needs assessment. Following the local authorities, new national criteria I determined Alan had eligibility for support (Department of Health, 2016). Not only did Alan reach the criteria, he also met the criteria for continuing health care (CHC) funding, therefore, the NHS paid for all his care needs (NHS Choices, 2015). The local authority must provide an advocate if the service user has difficulty communicating and unable to understand issues being, an advocate was not necessary as Alan had family to represent his wishes (Department of Health,
