It’s a cold winter night, I’ve been on this slow carriage heading to the Virginian Army. From what i’ve heard they’ve set up some cabins for the winter. I’ll have a cabin next to the general’s which should be a good cabin. I got there around dawn, people were just waking up to some bacon beans salted pork. Now that I can see these cabins which look like glorified outhouses, they are just the body of a cabin with the roof’s made of nothing but rain flys. They do nothing but drill, eat, drill, and eat. They are all so focused on their drill that it helps with the homesickness, that’s probably why they hardly get any free time. I always see mail going in and out to people’s loved ones, this does help with the homesickness in a way. It allows men to talk to their loved ones. The boys all have different ages, we got some boys that are only 16 out here. There’s a majority of old timers though since we have the Southern army. This winter is harsh, but not to the point where people freeze to death. Everyone at night runs the risk of their cabins “tarps” could fall in at anytime. The snow is starting to get a lil’ bit thicker in the sense that it’s getting colder. As we get deeper in the winter I expect to see our boys to get blankets and more supplies, but that doesn't seem to be the
