For my community service project, I held a yard sale on October 17th, 2015 from 6:30 a.m. to one. I had received supplies from my family members and from my church members to sell. I made flyers and posted them in the community facilities, had the radio make an announcement, had the school announce the yard sale for two weeks, and had it announced on social media. This project was a success because with the yard sale and donations, I raised over 100 dollars to donate to The Wounded Warrior Project. I chose The Wounded Warrior Project because of the personal ties I have to the United States Military. My grandfather served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. My mother served in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Seymour Johnson in Goldsboro, N.C. My uncle is a twenty-three year retired veteran of the U.S. Army, who was deployed four times to Iraq. This project strengthened my skills of organization, writing, creativity and communication. I had to organize the money that was received. I also had to organize my supplies and place prices o everything. I had to write announcements that were read at school and my church. I also had to create flyers that were placed in facilities and on road signs. I had to call and talk to the radio announcer to tell him about my yard sale. The procedure for starting my yard sale was that I had to create announcements to have read at my school and church. The next step was to create flyers to post in the community. I also had to call the radio station to have them announce the supplies I would be selling at my sale. After this, I had to get all the supplies together and place prices on everything.
