After a semester in “college,” I have learned how to write essays. Through English Composition I and Mrs. Buss most of the mistakes I have made have been vanquished. The many types of essays like: ad analysis, comparative analysis, narrative, and argumentative all have given me problems but each was a step towards perfection. The first grade I received on an essay was my worst which was the ad analysis essay. This essay required me to choose an ad and explain why the ad was designed that way. The ad I chose was silver and sleek promoting the Chevrolet Malibu. I made many careless errors like not using MLA format or the correct font. Although not having transitions form body paragraphs and forgetting what Mrs. Buss taught about introductions, that is not all that failed on for this essay. I learned what a comma splice was and did not make that mistake again throughout the rest of the semester. This essay improved my writing and provided me with an outline for my future papers. The next step towards perfection was writing a comparative analysis. During this essay I compared feudalism to today’s modern school systems. In this essay I had stronger vocabulary, but still had issues with transitions in the body paragraphs. This essay required some research, and I learned some …show more content…

It took a while to figure out what I wanting to write about, but I thought about the childish time I played with my knife in the car. The structure of the essay was mostly open, but this essay had to include an introduction, body and conclusion. Another requirement was that this essay had to have dialect. This essay reminded me to be careful with sharp objects and always listen to parents. One the weaknesses I had with this essay was shifting in tone. Another mistake was “incorrect quoting,” along with careless errors with commas. Overall this was my best essay and I stared to enjoy writing more after I completed
