I learn that it is most important to focus on children when in the classroom. I relax in my work by clean up in this class. Always be available to support children and maintain an overview of what is happening throughout the program. I’m aware that I can’t leave children unsupervised and can be somewhere that have one of the teacher staff can supervise me and the group. I clearly state the learning and behavioral expectations for my class and I uphold them. Most importantly I make sure to create each lesson to meet the individual needs of every student, so that everyone is learning. For instance, when working on math I create a math warm up that caters to all of the needs of my students. One math worksheet will have images of coins and they have to count the coins and write the answer or use a number stamp to stamp the answer. Then they will have to skip count by 1’s writing themselves, circling the answer, or using a number stamp.
I have grown as an academic student in college and career readiness, as displayed through my English 101 class. This was my third college class on the campus of Los Angeles Mission College, so I thought I was prepared and ready. Yet in my English 101 class I had to come up with my own prompts for my essays and merely came into class to listen to lectures on the basics of English. This was the first class that the teacher did not give me the rules on what to do for the assignment, I had to come up with it myself. Professor Diaz-Cooper did not hand out How-To papers or grading rubrics - she expected us to know and acquire all this information on our own.

In Mrs. Ashley classroom there are signs that gives children something to think about as they are going through the day in that classroom. Mrs. Ashley tells that when a child come to her room she have to see them with a smile or try to see why they are in a not good place as they are coming in the classroom to her. The purpose of this essay is to acknowledge the conditions that impact upon Indigenous students’ education. This will be reached through analysis of the concepts of race, racism and whiteness in Australia. These key understandings of Indigenous students’ will be incorporated into my own critical pedagogy in order to demonstrate how I would teach for reconciliation in my classroom. The concepts of race, racism and whiteness have produced unequal outcomes for Indigenous students to a vast degree in Australian society. The term ‘race’ has a historical context in Australia that is not acknowledged highly enough.
I can consider my professional development experience in two parts: Before I became a teacher and after I became a teacher. During my teacher education at university I used to imagine myself as the teacher of that lesson and I used to try to draw some tips for my future job. I observed my teachers’ way of teaching, their rapport with students and their reactions. I always commented on why or why not they behave in that specific way and search for examples to be applied in my future job as a teacher. I believe that these observations provided me with some valuable and conclusive clues for my job.
Throughout my training, I implemented various strategies for engaging students in small groups and rigorous lessons. My role as a teacher is to communicate effectively, be respectful, and have self-worth and confidence. I did fear making wrong choices throughout this field experience. I set high expectations the students to achieve high goals. Teaching to me opened doors to many students’ lives.
Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
