Reflective Practice Reflection

A) Over the project I have gained many insights about how reflective practices has assisted me to become an effective team member. A key insight of the reflective practice is that it facilitated me to identify both individual and group strengths and weaknesses. This considerably helped to ensure I became an effective team member and this is shown by the two examples below. I identified that one of my major strengths is my work ethic and willingness to take on responsibility. I also identified that, this means I tend to take on a considerable work load, that is well above my fair share. Because of this, it hinders my performance as I cannot complete the tasks to my potential due to the excessive responsibility. Therefore, by conducting the reflective practice, I was able to identify this aspect and arrange my workload accordingly. This resulted in me selecting an appropriate workload and completing all the tasks to my potential, thus helped me to become an effective member. The reflective practice made me realises that I had a major weakness in identifying what each group member brought to the team. The resulting impact of this weakness is that, I tend to become frustrated if I believed that an individual team member is not pulling their weight. This is because, by reflecting on the group dynamics, certain aspects critical for success were identified. From this, conflict resolution was identified as a critical aspect for success. By identifying this, I was then able to problem solve and make a decision as to the best way to minimise and deal with conflict. This then improved the group dynamics and helped us get to the preforming stage, thus reflective practice assisted in me becoming an effective team
