The Reggio Emilia approach is currently used to support arts and literacies in an early childhood setting. It is an experimental and motivating approach which sees children as potential, resourceful and capable (Arthur, Beecher, et al., 2008). Arthur, Beecher, et al., (2208) described that in this approach children, as social beings, construct their own learning controlled by their interests. Since relationship is one of its main aspects, therefore it is established between educators, children and family and local community to initiate collaborate learning (Arthur, Beecher, et al., 2008). Symbolism is one of the main aspects of play (Dockett & Fleer, 1999). It contains make-believe components which translate the people, object and ideas into non-existent at that stage and also symbolises others (Dockett & Fleer, 1999). For example, when a child uses a block as a truck and imitates its noise while pushing it on the floor or when a child copying his father’s action and making similar tone by wearing suitable clothes (Dockett & Fleer, 1999). Symbols are also used when children play with words, for example, saying it by producing much noise, softly or humorously (Dockett & Fleer, 1999). During play, children’s scaffolds through interactions with peers (Arthur, Beecher, et al., 2008). Play encourages them to make pictorial representation on their family and community knowledge thereby connecting their social worlds and understandings achieved in school (Arthur, Beecher, et al., 2008).
