The example is given that in a given day dementia patients are able to make various decisions on what food options they want or don’t want or what clothes they want to wear. They are able to make their wishes known and have the capacity for saying yes or no in given situations even in sexual expression situations. When a policy regarding sexual expression is discussed and agreed upon by residents, caretakers and families their values and experiences are met, boundaries are set and wishes are heard.
