There many cases that deals with death for the human society. One type that many people dread to hear is suicide. Suicide is taking of one's own life. We don’t understand and question why this behavior may be in many people and how it could happen. College students can have a risk of suicide behavior, for example. Dr. Thomas Joiner works on psychology and treatment of suicidal behavior and explains how this behavior is dealt with. He also describes how the interpersonal theory is connected with suicide behavior.
The interpersonal theory of suicidal behavior suggests that an individual has the desire to and the ability to commit suicide. There are many questions to ask about the behavior but one is the desire to do it? The theory states that when people hold two emotional situations in their minds they start to develop the desire for death. These two situations include perceived burdensomeness and a sense of low belongingness.

This shows that suicide involves a fight with self-defense motives. For if this battle repeats it should make the person develop the desire to do suicide. A consequence of suicidal behavior could adjust individuals to the pain or fear of self-injury which could make future suicidality. However, for suicide is not restricted to suicidal behavior, it can also be repeated experiences with other painful or fearful behaviors like physical abuse. Lastly, the theory also suggests that even exposure to others’ pain and injury may produce suicide. If other people feel hurt and bad about themselves, it can make us feel worse about ourselves and how others see us. Some people in school or even college may think they are not smart compared to others or pretty than others. This could put them down and be depressed about one
