The Special Relationship Between Billy and His Mother Remember as a child when your mother would tell anybody who would listen how special, smart, good looking and well behaved you were. Yeah? Now imagine if she went around telling everyone in the town that you’re so special because you are the reincarnation of Jesus. Brutal may be the word to describe what that must’ve felt like. In Helena Brooks’ Nothing Special we see how Billy (Kip Chapman) tries to live a boring and monotonous adult life, to distance himself from his eccentric mother Heather (Alison Routledge) and her insistence of him being Jesus as well as distancing himself from the word “Special”.
