Macbeth and Lady Macbeth Essay Both characters are ambitious. However, in the beginning of the play, Lady Macbeth is the one in control. In act one, section five when Lady Macbeth reads her reads her husband's incredulous letter about the witches and their prophecies, she immediately knows she wants to kill Duncan. She plans out the murder of King Duncan. She questions Macbeth's manhood when he points out all the reasons not to kill the King. She pushes him to becomes the murder he becomes. Then after the murder of Duncan, he shows guilt for his crime. It is Lady macbeth who takes control once again. She takes the bloody dagger from him and places them by the dead guards to set them up as the killers. From this point on, Macbeth takes control of his actions. He plans out the murder of both Banquo and attempts to have Fleance killed as well. This is done without Lady Macbeth’s knowledge. Lady Macbeth has turned into a frail weak creature, overcome with paranoia. While Macbeth has turned into a evil person. The relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth is indeed a turbulent one that carries many similarities and differences. One could compare it to a balance, at First Lady Macbeth is heavy with vaulting ambitions and greed, while Macbeth is light with his conscience. However as the play progresses these positions change. Macbeth becomes the heavy one with numerous of murders he commits and an ambition more vaulting than ever to preserve the throne for himself, while Lady Macbeth becomes light with her unbearable guilt which in the end it leads her to commit suicide. Although they have many similarities and differences between the duo in terms of ambition, morality and resolve but they had one thing in common they both knew what they were doing was wrong but chose the path of
