William Shakespeare wrote the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet. Within the play there are many different types of love shown. Such as Parental love which is between a parent and child, or between a parent figure and a child. There is also Romantic love which is the most used form of love in the play, where lots of feelings and emotions are shared between two people. One other form of love shown in Romeo and Juliet is unrequited love; which is when one person loves the other, but the other doesn't love them back. Parental love is love that is displayed between a parent and a child. In which the parent will guide and protect a child, or in this instance it is not between family members, but close friends acting as parent figures. The Nurse acted as a parent figure towards Juliet by guiding her and being there for her. The same can be said about Friar Laurence towards Romeo, Friar guided Romeo throughout the play. However, Romeo’s parents Lord Montague and Lady Montague did demonstrate their love for Romeo at the beginning of the play with their concern of Romeo’s depression. …show more content…

Romantic love is usually shared between two individuals that have a deep attraction for each other consensually. At the beginning of the play Romeo shows his love for Juliet with this quote, “ O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!... So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows as yonder lady o’er her fellows shows… Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.” (Lines 42,46,47,50,50, Act 1, Scene 5) this shows that just by Romeo seeing Juliet has made him fall in love with her.Romeo and Juliet decide to get married, and Juliet promises to give everything she has to Romeo and follow him wherever he goes, this is just one of the examples of the pure romantic love they had for one
