Religious Freedom
As citizens of a freedom based country, the biggest freedom we often overlook and take for granted is our religious freedom. We don’t usually understand or comprehend what some people must go through to even pray in their own homes because they fear being prosecuted. There are nearly 5.3 billion people facing very harsh prosecutions for religion today, especially Christians. Even in the United States, though it is not illegal, there are places where religion is somewhat unacceptable and possibly banned. Many public schools, for example, have cut “One nation under God” out of the Pledge of Allegiance and many kids are not allowed to pray out loud. How do you view your religious freedom? As I’ve gotten older I have become more and more grateful for that decision and have begun to understand why they allow me and my siblings to go such schools. If you have watched the news lately or even listened to the radio you often hear about many Christians being severely persecuted for their faith, and while that may not mean very much to some I personally am sad that so many of us take for granted our religious freedom. We have the ability to speak out and praise our Saviour freely, yet we never choose to do so let alone even consider the thought of it. We go thru the steps, going to church only on holidays or if we have no choice, only going to reconciliation during school, and praying when someone else starts the prayer. Some people can’t even go to church even though it is such an important part of religion, it helps us stay on track and expand our knowledge with other
