The age of the Renaissance covered from 1350 – 1550, the word Renaissance means, from the French, “rebirth” (p356). During this period came great works of art by men such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, and Donatello, to name just a few. Wealth within thriving cities allowed people to indulge in material things; painters, architects and sculptors were hired to decorate homes and build buildings. Looking at the many different and influential Renaissance artists, the works and ideas of Leonard da Vinci seemed to set the forefront of the other, great artists that followed.
