Al Capone is famous for saying, “You can go a long way with a smile. You can go a lot farther with a smile and a gun.” The 18th amendment gave movement to a stronger and more powerful group of criminals in the united states and forever change how the government fought organized crime. There were many different gangsters, but the most popular were Al Capone, Bonnie and Clyde, and Lester Nelson. Al capone was one of the greatest gangsters in american history. Al Capone was born in brooklyn, new york january 17, 1899. Capone and his family lived in a poor house in new york around the brooklyn navy yard (biography.com). Al capone and his family moved to a different part of New york opening young Capone to crime (biography.com). Capone went to a catholic school and was a pretty smart kid but go kicked out at the age of 14 for hitting his teacher (biography.com). Al Capone met a guy named johnny torrio who showed him the ways of being a respectable gangster. “In 1925 Torrio retired, and Capone became crime czar of Chicago, running gambling, prostitution and bootlegging rackets and expanding his territories by the gunning down of rivals and rival gangs.”(biography.com). Lester started crime at a young age,”Nelson’s early criminal career included stealing tires, running stills, bootlegging, and armed robbery” (fbi.gov). Lester got married to Helen Wawzynak and they gave birth to a daughter and son (biography.com). Lester went to prison for a year for bank robbery. Lester then met up with John Dillinger and they did all sorts of crime from robbery and bootlegging , they hid together from the law and murdered people together. Lester got into a legendary gun fight with the fbi, ending up getting shot a lot and escaping somehow but ended up dying from injuries on november 27,
