Anne’s Holocaust As a young, curious 15 year old, needing to hide in a secret annex would be extremely scary and frightening. Many people imagine the horrors of being such a young girl during the Holocaust, but have never thought that deeply about it, she just went through it, lived it, and struggled with her family. Anne Marie Frank was a German-born Jewish girl who kept a diary in which she documented her life while hiding under Nazi persecution. In addition, she is an honored diarist who described everyday life from her family hiding in an Amsterdam attic, in other words, the secret annex. A young 15 year old girl, afraid and worried, wrote a diary that made a huge positive impact on the whole world, teaching people multiple things about life. Anne Frank, a curious girl in a horrific event, writes about her day to day life and inspires many kids and adults to this day. In her diary, Frank wrote about her very close relationship with her father, lack of love for her mother, for they didn’t have much in common, and admiration for her sister's intelligence and kind nature. Although World War II was circling around Frank and her family, the main theme of The Diary of Anne Frank was the inner conflict between Frank and her family members. Frank was constantly at odds with herself. That conflict came about how she dealt with everyone else while hiding in the secret annex. The tight space created a dispute for everyone in the Annex on a daily basis which caused commotion and chaos. According to National Geographic, “Anne's diary helped the world learn about the horrors of the Nazi genocide of European Jews. But it also put heavy symbolic weight on the shoulders of a murdered 15-year-old who could no longer speak for herself.” (Who Was Anne Frank?)
