David Hume (1711-1776) was a scottish philosopher known for his ideas of empiricism and scepticism.The idea of empiricism is whatever we can perceive is thorugh our sensory knowledge only.All the human knowledge ,whatever we have learned is through our sensory organs only.Firstly Hume draws a line between the concept of impressions and ideas.According to Hume,ideas are nothing more than shallow images of thinking in our mind whereas impressions which comprise of all our sense data are superior.David Hume was a huge fan of John Locke,he also differentiates between simple and complex impressions.Simple impressions and ideas such as colors are not seperate in everybody's mind.Complex impressions and ideas such as seeing or imagining a giraffe can be analyzed using its constituent simple elements.He argues that what we view of a complex object is just a collection of its simple properties and it is impossible to imagine a complex object without the simple properties of which it constitutes.Thus Hume deconstructs the idea of self as humans are nothing more than a bundle of senstations
