Deborah’s part in the Bible is one of the oldest written pieces. It is a poem that appears in Judges 5. Deborah grew up in the Mountains of Ephraim, and throughout the sin that had surrounded her, she stayed focused and loyal to God. She feared her God and was a very wise woman from her unwavering believe and trust in God. Naturally, people came to her often enough to wear she made her own court, under a palm tree, and told people of her prophecies. The Prophetess was said to tell many prophecies but above all, she emphasized the lack of faith of the Jewish people. They were leaning more towards sin and evil rather than faith, the Torah and God. The Jews grew to respect her teachings and prophecies and try to follow her advice and wisdom. She also believed strongly in community. She is said to have sat under the palm tree so that the people could form a small community of a kind and it can be an example. The division of a people only weakens everyone. It is very fortunate for this loyalty because she decided to battle the Canaanites for their rights and freedom. She called for an army from a leader in Israel named Barak and ten thousand men were summoned. But Barak said that he could not do it alone so Deborah joined him.
