Although Diana went along with this narrative, I believe it changed her definition of beauty. Throughout her career, Diana was known for seeing something in people that they hadn’t seen in themselves. Her definition of beauty went beyond merely what society said was beautiful. What society coined as “inclusion” she saw as beautiful. I don’t think she saw her work as inclusion, but rather expansion. She wanted to challenge the old ways of the industry and expand it. She introduced readers to the beauty of African, Asian, and Latin American cultures, through her captivating spreads. She didn’t just highlight the physical beauty of these cultures, but she celebrated and incorporated their traditions as well.
