Edgar Allen Poe was an American writer, from the early 19th century, whose horror and mystery themed stories made him one of the most popular writers of his time. Poe’s stories were not only horror but they were known for their macabre horror. Macabre is when something is disturbing because it involves an element of death. It is not clear on why he became such a great writer in this genre perhaps, it came from disappointing events in his life. Edgar Allen Poe was born on January 19, 1809, in Boston Massachusetts.
