With its strong ties to an American racing icon ford has bested some of the greatest. Its lead to countless victories in the pro racing scene but also having affordable cars that everyone can afford. The Mustang was built with one key concept; to build a fun car that everyone can afford if they work hard enough (“HistoryOfTheFordMustang”, n.d.) This idea brought the Mustang to the top compared to the other sports cars, which charged a premium for their cars. Chevy created the Camaro because Ford found a niche in the market and Chevy didn’t want to be left out (“Wikipedia”, n.d.) My grandpa saw that Ford created something special and he jumped on it. The GT350R is lightened and more powerful then the standard GT. They lightened it by having carbon fiber wheels and carbon fiber hood along as lightening the engine and making it more balanced. The Shelby GT350R has a near perfect weight distribution from front to rear which is nearly the same as the original GT350 that was invented 50 years prior. A near perfect weight distribution is one of the major causes for under steer and over steer. The power comes from a 5.2 liter V-8 producing over 500hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. This and its high revving flat crank will help it reach a whopping 8200-rpm. Another key to shredding lap times is the suspension; the mustang is on full coil overs allowing less travel for the tires to “hop” around. It also has a stiffer chassis with help from a bigger sway bar front and rear and a strut bar. The mustang comes with special tires that Ford and Michelin helped create to withstand brutal cornering speeds.
