When you hear the word Frankenstein, do you think of a monster? That is a common misconception. The reality is that Frankenstein is the last name of the scientist who created the monster. However, in Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein is the real monster. This is shown throughout the story by on multiple occasions. Victor is the real monster because of his greedy desire for fame, abandoning the creature, and letting an innocent person die without speaking up. Victor Frankenstien let his desire for fame blind him in his scientific research. Furthermore, he even brought something back from the dead without any regard for its feelings. Also, Victor acknowledged this mistake on page 188 while talking to Walton, a boat driver: "Walton! A creature who had no idea what the world was like or what to do. Similar to a newborn baby. Even worse, this monster was kindhearted and loving in the beginning but got treated wrong because of his appearance, which isn’t his fault. However, humans reaction to seeing an 8-foot-tall monster was justified. Victor is at fault here. On page 115, after the monster has killed William and framed Justine, the monster tells Victor, "I am malicious because I am miserable. You, my creator, would tear me to pieces and destroy my fame, the work of your own hands." The monster reveals the reason for his crimes and why he wants to destroy him.
