Genghis khan
For my project on the Leadership Study, I picked Genghis Khan. In this project I will be talking about where this person showed power, what was the source of their power, Historical content, Leadership style, Short term impact, long term impact and their legacy.
Genghis Khan was born in a small town named tamujin, August 18th 1227. He was the founder and the great king of the Mongol Empire, which became the largest empire after his death. As Genghis Khan grew up, he established himself as a baghatur, which basically means Hero. In the 1193 under the instructions of the Chinese and the support of he karaits which was a tribe. Furthermore Genghis suppressed the southern tartars., which when he did this gave him tremendous power. However he soon realized that he could not maintain this amount of power due to the internal pressures of his society. War was the only tool that Genghis had to conquer other tribes. At one point he was tortured and enslaved by the clan that had abandoned him. However he eventually escaped. When Genghis's first wife Borte got kidnaped, he launched a huge rescue party to bring her back home. Furthermore, after that he soon started making alliances, also reputation as a warrior. And therefore started seeing a growing amount of Followers that appreciated him, and also his tactics.
Soon after conquering most tribes Genghis had 1 million personnel in his army, In order to suppress the traditional causes of tribal warfare, he abolished inherited aristocratic titles. He also banned the selling and kidnapping of women, banned the enslavement of any Mongol's and made livestock theft punishable by death. Moreover, Genghis Khan ordered the adoption of a writing system and allowed freedom of religion well before that idea caught on
