Throughout history, art has been very important. The biggest time for art, though, was the Renaissance. Many artists got their start in this era. Some popular artists include Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo Da Vinci. I believe that all of these people were amazing artists, but Leonardo was the most significant artist of his time.
Leonardo da vinci himself was a sculptor,inventor,architect,and a painter. Da Vinci was born April 15,1452 in Vinci Italy. Leonardo studied the laws of science and nature but he received just the basic education like reading, writing and math. At the age of 14 Leonardo had the chance to start a apprenticeship with Andrea del Verrocchio. Andrea was an italian painter himself and he was the creator of a important workshop in Florence.
Artist, inventor, and original Renaissance man, Leonardo da Vinci, began painting his portrait of an Italian nobleman's wife in 1503 and completed it some years later, probably around 1507. The painting was originally a commissioned work, but da Vinci didn't sell it to the man who requested it (possibly because he hadn't finished it yet!). Instead, he kept it and still had it in his possession when he arrived in France at the court of King Francois I, around 1516. The French monarch eventually purchased "Mona Lisa" from da Vinci.
Leonardo was the first to explain why the sky is blue. He put his early childhood fact in his notebook. Lived to 1452-1519.

Da Vinci was granted the chance to work under Andrea Del Verrocchio, who happened to be an incrediality famous artist in the town of Florence. He worked as the apprentance until he turned twenty-five. After completing his work under Verrocchio, da Vinci worked alone for five years. In 1482 he recieved the chance to work for Duke of Milan.
Leonardo da Vinci asked a question that was important to the art community: “Why shadows cast by bodies on white walls are blue at sunset?” Leonardo later discovered that shadows reflected colors at different angles. Leonardo stated, “‘The surface of any object receives the color of its object. Just because the sun’s light is red it is causing a shadow of the blue sky giving it the color on the white wall.’” Artists today use this important discovery in their paintings to make them as realistic as possible.
Leonardo Da Vinci was a sculptor, master painter and scientist. He spent years developing the perfected view of the sun’s reaction from hitting an object and the multitude of colors left behind in its shadow. He spent years developing his illustrations of light and shadows to help others learn the art of creating depth in paintings. Da Vinci found that there was a hierarchy and order in the creation of a painting. This knowledge based on the Renaissance period used natural philosophy and physics when others were using Geometry and Mathematics to create their art.
Leonardo Da Vinci was born April 15, 1452 and died in May 2, 1519. Da Vinci’s mother was a peasant by the name of Caterina Da Vinci, and his father was an attorney & notary by the name of Piero Fruosino Di Antonio Da Vinci. His parents were never officially married and only had one kid together. With Da Vinci’s father and mother put together he had 17 other half siblings. Little is known about the life of Leonardo da Vinci.

I searched deeper into the subject of Leonardo Da Vinci and his studies on shadows, perspective and color. Paintings before the Renaissance seemed flat and they didn’t contain a lot of depth. During the Renaissance where artists and musicians began to thrive and play with their mediums shading was discovered in paintings. Artists like Leonardo Da Vinci wanted their paintings to be three-dimensional and depict more that what had been done before. The first shadow was created by tracing the outline of a figure’s shadow, and from there, artists added shadows to create more prominent features.
The Brush of Knowledge Have you ever met anyone that can obtain knowledge with great passion? This man has learned numerous subjects and was magnificently well and teaching them. He has possibly learned about sixteen subjects that he loves. As you can probably already tell this man has an amazing mind and qualities, but the ones that caught my eye is how he has an passion for art and how he came about being a polymath. Certainly you can tell that Leonardo da Vinci was an intelligent man.
Imagine you were an artist during the Renaissance. A time when art was redefined and given a new meaning. What type of artistic approach would you take? The word Renaissance means “rebirth”. The Renaissance period began in Italy and spread throughout Europe.
The topic I chose to study is the work of da Vinci’s perspective, light, shadows, and color in painting. From my research, I learned how complex art actually is. In fact, Leonardo’s art (and the work of others) relies on geometry, mathematics, and theories of shading and color. There are plenty of theories and mathematical factors that need to be learned for an in-depth understanding. I do not know what motivated Leonardo to spend time as an artist, but I do know of some minor factors that contributed.
