The Civil War as noted by many historians as the First Great War was a huge growing pain for our country as a nation and of free people. As all wars are the cost is high and the weight is heavy. The burden of conflict has always rested with the man with the biggest guns and the heart of steel that is the man of the Field
Civil War soldiers fought for something more than just manhood, duty, government, and their country. They fought for and against slavery, which for most soldiers was their primary motivation beyond defending their home. Slavery for many was more than just an institution, it was the fabric of their economic society that provided the wealth and opportunity to the South. Without slavery the South could not operate and prosper which made it impossible for the notion of emancipation. However, those in the North did not immediately rely on the institution of slavery in such dire manner.
The civil war of 1861-1875 is known as one of the most bloodiest battles ever fought in American history. The outcome of the war would define the type of country the U.S. would become for centuries to come. This war gave justice to two unanswered questions left undetermined by the revolution: would the United States strictly follow the ideas left upon the Declaration of Independence or fall as a whole country due to disagreements in beliefs. Two sides, the North and South, with very distinct ideas went head to head in overwhelming battles, each party of states fighting for their own reasons.
The Civil War was a battle between the north and south that neither side had anticipated would be so long and difficult. This long lasting war involved several battles that led to thousands of casualties on both sides. A total of more than six hundred twenty thousand American men perished. The objective of the Civil War was to abolish slavery from the north’s perspective, or to keep the southern lifestyle as the southerners justification to fight. The winning side of this war would change the history of slaves, and whether or not it still exists to this day.
The Civil War was what ultimately showed America what kind of nation it would be. The Civil War had a profound affect on America’s history. After the nation had been torn apart, the ending of the Civil War gave hope to people everywhere that the nation would come together once again. The Civil War also showed just how powerful the Federal Government was. Federalism had won as the national government in America.
Today is December 1, 1765, which marks exactly a month since the Stamp Act has taken effect. However, it has been months since the British Parliament passed it on March 22, 1765. The civil war brought down slavery which was a big part of the United States back then.

Had they been victorious, the United States, as it is today, would not exist. The North and South had a number of differences, including the land around them , military tactics, and social beliefs, but all in all, they were still one united country politically. Because the Confederacy’s entire economy was based on slavery, many Southerners believed they needed to maintain the institution at any cost.
The American Civil War was a major turning point in America’s history. Before this defining moment, many Americans were cruel to many groups of people, including those of color, and women. This maltreatment of people was the main motivation behind the Civil War. Through the efforts of men (and women) fighting for the freedom of all in the country, the American Civil War redefined what it means to be an American. Two great examples of these fighters are Frederick Douglass and Sojourner Truth.
Any time the issue of war is debated one of the underlying questions that are always asked is whether the war could have been avoided or not and the Civil War is no exception to this. On December 20th, 1860 South Carolina declared its secession from the Union The secession of South Carolina was followed by the secession of six additional states from the south. By February of the next year, the seven southern states that had left the union had drafted a constitution of their own and soon became their own nation called “ the Confederate States of America”. There were far too many differences between the two sides for a peaceful reconciliation. So this left the United States divided into essentially two separate nations with opposing views forced

The American Revolution was a political upheaval that took place between 1765 and 1783.The Declaration stated all of this and the colonists said it would be. After securing enough votes for the passage, independence was voted for on July 2nd.
