On the 20th of April in 1964 during the Ravonia trial Nelson Mandela jotted down five points in preparation for his statement form the dock. In the Ravonia trial ten African National Congress Leaders were tried for 221 acts of sabotage aimed at overthrowing the Apartheid. Mr Mandela and his fellow colleagues were facing the death penalty. In prison in 1969 Nelson Mandela wrote the following letter to his wife , Winnie Madikizela. It focused on her health before diving deep into family and other matters. Mandela kept a series of desk calendars on Robben Island and in Pollsmoor and Victor Verster prisons, which run from 1976 to 1989. These record his everyday experiences. Some entries such as the one here about Matma Gahndi shows that he kept in touch with events happening in the outside world.
This diary entry was the very last one Mandela made while in prison written in a house in Victor Verster Prison, during a time of transition between imprisonment and freedom.
These simple rotes were recorded by Mandela as a brief outline of proceeding notes from his first session of Parliament as the president of South Africa , on May 25th, 1994.
